OpenCut is an open-source video editor built as an alternative to CapCut. It runs entirely in your browser, which means your video files never leave your device.

The project is currently being rewritten from the ground up with a Rust core, plugin architecture, and support for desktop, mobile, and browser from a single codebase. The rewrite includes an MCP server for AI agent integration, headless mode for automation, and a scripting tab in the editor.

The current live version at opencut.app still runs the classic version, which is functional for basic editing tasks. OpenCut is MIT-licensed and sponsored by fal.ai.
