Code Wiki scans your entire code repository and generates structured documentation including API references, architecture overviews, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams. After the initial scan, it regenerates the documentation on every commit, so the docs always reflect the current state of the code. This replaces manually written markdown files that tend to go stale.
The tool includes a Gemini-powered chat interface where you can ask specific questions about the codebase, such as how a particular component works or where a function is defined. Responses include direct hyperlinks to the relevant files and code sections. Currently available in public preview for open-source repositories through the web interface. Google is developing a Gemini CLI extension for private and internal repositories, accessible through a waitlist.
